I love Libraries.

05-18-12

I am a library member again! Yay! The last time I was a library member was when I was going to college in Florida. So it has been about 5 years. I can seriously spend hours in a library. I loved my college's library, since it is an art school they were stock full of amazing art books. I had checked out around 10 books at a time, and sometimes ended up with having a small tower of books in the corner of my room. Oh, I miss that library so much.

So I went to my county's library and I must say I wasn't that impressed with things. I was impressed with the technology they use now. You can self check out. Awesome. They also have fancy new cards. One can go on your keychain. You get a pin number to go with the card, which you enter when self checking out. Oh! The crazy thing about the self check out is how you scan the books. You just set all the books on this pad and it scans them all (no idea how) and knows what is what. How cool is that!

Okay, okay, back to the books. I forgot how small the library actually was, so considering that makes me realize why there were so few books. Some of the shelves really didn't have all that many books on them. The shelves just seems so lonely. The art section was a bit of a joke. There were more comics and manga books than art books. Now don't get me wrong, I love comics and manga. It just seems like the amount of art books they had was very bleh. Only about one shelf full of art books and they had about an entire bookcase (about 12 shelves) full of comics and manga. Their children's section is pretty awesome. I shall have to explore that area more. Anyway, I got a very interesting combination of books. Here you go:

Mr. T-Rex Father's Day card process of awesomeness!

05-07-12

So I have been working on this ridiculous drawing for a Father's Day card. It all started with an idea I had while doing something. I usually get ideas while cleaning or just getting ready for the day. When I am able to just let my mind wander. So what you see to the left is the note I wrote down before I forgot it. I love creating random ridiculous drawings. They are very fun! Plus, it is nice to switch back and forth from 'adorably cute colorful' to 'lol, what the heck, that is awesome' drawings.

My notes: Mr T Rex, explosions behind him, holding weapons, rambo style wear

The next sketches you see are where I was figuring things out and realizing what would work and what wouldn't. Since this drawing didn't involve a background, I didn't do any thumbnail sketches to work out the composition. The last one is my "final" drawing. I may still tweak some stuff here and there, but for right now that is what I will be using to vector from. And I'm hoping I shall have that ready later this week to show. :)

Happy Birthday to me!

So today is my birthday. I totally made that silly Mr T Rex b-day illustration for myself. I find it amusing.
Anyway, today I get to buy myself a birthday present of a new $200+ fan thingy for my car, so it will stop wanting to overheat. woo! Very sad, but I need my car to work. So when I find a job, I can drive there. *sad yay* So you might wonder how old I am...or not. I am now 28 years old. I certainly don't feel like that. If anything I look around 20 and feel like I'm still in my first years of college. Strange how that works. :/
I think I'm going to chill and do nothing today, and save all the working for tomorrow and the weekend. :)
What a strange blog post.

Dinosaur Alphabet

04-25-12

I am working on dinosaur alphabet illustrations. So far I have 2 done, allosaurus and brachiosaurus. Many more to go! I have been figuring out what colors I want to use in the set. So far I have stuck more with the greens, and blue-greys. I have been playing around with different plaid patterns, and even started to make some of my own. It is quite fun once you realize how to make them. It has been quite interesting researching all the dinosaurs that start with different letters. I am trying to pick the dinosaurs that kids may be more familiar with, but then again I haven't even heard of some of them. If you have any suggestions on colors, feel free to leave me a comment on my FB page. Or if you would like to see each print available in more color options, let me know too! :-)
They will be available for prints in my Etsy shop, and I also plan on having them available in my CafePress store as decals.
